QUALITY INSTRUMENTS

EFFORTS REGARDING THE PROJECT



  1. A meeting was held with participation of Mrs. Sabahat Özgöl, the project leader, and Mr Fatih Aksular, the consultant teacher. The participants were informed about the Project and the methodology was discussed.
  2. Required information was obtained from various resources and the stages of the projects where obtained information may be utilized were determined.
  3. Various opinions with regard to the content and the title of the Project were collected.
  4. Objective of the Project was concluded at the end of fish bone and matrix analyses.
  5. It was concluded that an inquiry will be prepared for the purpose of ensuring an increase in weekly number of lessons of visual arts and music in primary schools.
  6. A task distribution plan regarding obtaining information and preparation of presentations about leading Turkish composers and painters was prepared.
  7. It was decided that a musical contest with the participation of musical groups and solo singers from 4-5-6-7 and 8th classes in our school will be organized
  8. It was decided that a painting contest involving all students in our school will be organized
  9. It was decided that appropriate walls of the school building and garden will be painted by using graffiti technique. The parents were requested to contribute to the efforts such as inviting graffiti artists to our school and performing work-shops in our schools.
  10. It was decided that the area under fire escape of our school will be transformed an art gallery, the “stairway art gallery”, and the works of our students will be exhibited in this art gallery with accompaniment of music. It was decided that for construction of aforesaid art gallery price quotations will be collected from various companies.
  11. A meeting with participation of the director and the managers of the school and it was resolved that a school radio will be established.
  12. It was decided that the presentations about the artists will be performed by using Montessori method and written information and visual materials will be presented by using education cubes.
  13. It was adopted that active artist presentations will be performed by using roll-up banners.
  14. It was decided that slide shows will be prepared for the purpose of presentation of the artists.
  15. It was decided that a logo of the project will be designed.
  16. It was decided that prepared t-shirts with project logo will be put on by the students and the teachers who are involved in the project.
  17. It was decided that contest banners, project announcements and visual materials to be used in radio broadcast studio will be designed and printed in size of 50 x 70 cm.

QUESTION 1: Is a 40 –minutes- lesson a week enough for Visual Arts or Music lesson at primary schools?

92 of 100 students answered NO and 8 students answered YES.
  
Answers of 20 teachers were NO.

30 parents answered NO.

92 of 100 students checked “2” or “more” whereas 8 students found “1 hour a week” enough.

The followings were done and the following decisions were taken;

  1. 21/03/2011 A meeting was held with participation of Mrs. Sabahat Özgöl, the project leader, and Mr Fatih Aksular, the consultant teacher. The prohect was introduced and the procedures were discussed.
  2. Information utilization and the stages of the project were discussed.
  3. Title of the project was discussed.
  4. The objective of the project was determined by fish bone and matrix analyses.
  5. An inquiry should be prepared for the purpose of ensuring an increase in weekly number of lessons of visual arts and music in primary schools.
  6. Contest banners, project announcements and visual materials to be used in radio broadcast studio will be designed and printed in size of 50 x 70 cm.
  7. 27/03/2011 the presentations about leading composers and painters.
  8. A musical contest, involving musical groups and solo singers, will be organized in our school.
  9. A painting contest will be organized in our school.
  10. The walls of the school building and the garden will be painted by using graffiti technique. The parents were requested to contribute to this activity.

  1. ADVANTAGES

1. Musical and painting contests will ensure participation of the students to art activities and may help us to discover latent artistic ability of our students.

2. Artistic production and performed exhibitions allow us to enhance collective working skills and self confidence of our students.

3. Art-culture level of our students will be improved thanks to presentations about the artists.

4. Volunteer and active participation of all other students to the project activities will be ensured by graffiti paintings to be applied on the walls of the school.

5. Thanks to the exhibitions, performed in our “stairway art gallery”, a better understanding about the triangle “art-artist-spectator” will be achieved.

6. We will have an opportunity to listen to quality music and share our opinions about art thanks to the radio broadcast in our school.

7. By using roll-up billboards and education cubes interest of all students in art lessons was enhanced.

8. We may reveal the evidences of the need of increased number of art lessons by inquiry results.  










CONCLUSIONS

In primary schools number of the lessons of Visual Arts and Music should be increased,

A positive correlation between increased number of aforesaid lessons and socialization of the students was found,

The art is an essential factor for democratic communities and the individuals with higher power of empathy,

Art activities enhance self confidence and feeling of prestige of the students,

Such students can establish healthier mental and psychological communication,  

Creative and independent ideas which can be expressed by art works improve success and self confidence

The art provide limitless opportunities of enlightenment and spread of knowledge for young students,

The art protects the students against negative feelings and plays key role for success in any field.

Considering the art lessons important is directly proportional to growing generations, enlightened and adherent  of Atatürk’s policy.








A nation living without art means a nation without one of its vital veins.
